Wolverhampton Wanderers v Juventus' 1972 UEFA Cup Quarter Final print on quality box canvas. Sized 20'' x 30''.

My second portrait of Molineux was again painted by choice. I couldn't resist another shot at it, as I was left feeling incomplete with my first painting not showing a match scene or atmospheric view from the inside of the stadium. Obviously the most iconic part of Molineux is the South Bank, a view of which when packed to the rafters was simply jaw dropping. For this reason I decided to paint a scene from the North Bank, with a working class flavour. Wolves fans can be seen admiring their heroes for the memorable UEFA Cup Quarter Final 2nd leg versus the mighty Juventus from Turin. The Wolves were victorious over 2 legs, winning the home leg 2.1.
I find painting night games more thrilling as I've always been a floodlight geek. When I canvas opinions with supporters around the globe as to which match scenes would be most popular, in most cases the floodlit games are spoken about. I believe we all feel the same, as a game under lights always seem to have that little extra.
I've had weeks of pleasure painting the two portraits, and I hope their new owners have the same pleasure reliving all those magical moments Molineux served up from years gone by. The stadium nowadays is still unique, however it will never be the same.
